Managing research data

Information and support

Dear colleagues

Research data form the basis of almost every scientific work. Good scientific practice demands that research results can be validated for at least ten years after publication using the original data. In order to maximise the impact of the deployed funds, however, the data should also be re-usable in the scope of future studies.

Between 2014 and 2016 a team of specialists from the research and innovation services, the library and the IT services developed a concept for research data handling at Leibniz Universität Hannover. It builds on a survey among scientists and was approved by the university´s board in June 2016. Since then it is being put into practise. Its three columns are:

  • an institutional guideline (approved in April 2017)
  • counselling, training and information
  • setting up a data repository to complement existing IT services

Further information on all support offers related to research data management at our university is compiled for you on these pages.

Yours sincerely

Peter Wriggers

Vice President for Research of Leibniz Universität Hannover
